Better Government Association, nonprofit investigation journalism, and government watchdog organization, are about to expand greatly, this is in big part to the largest gift in its 98-year history, a $10 million grant from the Robert R. McCormick Foundation.
Better Government Association – Double Investigate and Enterprise Reporting Staff

This new ambitious collaboration will focus on providing residents information. It is dubbed the Illinois Solutions Partnership. Moreover, they need “to hold their government which is accountable. In fact, it is to engage public officials and civic leaders in efforts to improve Illinois and Chicago.
Crucial Time for State and Journalism
“Thus, they are launching the Illinois Solutions Partnership at this important time. It would be for the state and for journalism,” said David Greising, president, and CEO of the BGA. “Moreover, disinvestment in news coverage is, therefore, is a threat to a healthy democracy. In fact, McCormick’s Foundation’s pertinent investment is going to help combat this serious trend.”
Since 2018, Greising has headed the BGA. Then previously it would manage the Chicago News Cooperative. It is a short-lived digital news startup. Also, it has served as Midwest bureau chief of Reuters. He is a business columnist and reporter for the Chicago Tribute and Sun-Times.
BGA Policies
The nonprofit partnership, reported by the nonpartisan, will adhere to BGA policies that ensure the independence and objectivity of its journalism. This is according to the announcement.
A board with equal representation from the BGA and McCormick Foundation is going to oversee the venture.
“Also, we are really confident the Illinois Solutions Partnership will make a significant impact in helping our city. The state identifies and does pursue solutions to the key challenges we are facing,” Timothy Knight, president, and CEO of the McCormick Foundation, said.
