For 2025, the Nissan Frontier receives a modest facelift, most notably with a more pronounced grille and a sturdier front bumper. The interior has seen significant upgrades, with most models now featuring a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, except for the base S trim. Additionally, the Frontier boasts an improved towing capacity of 7,150 pounds, up by 510 pounds from before.

These changes are part of Nissan’s strategy to keep the Frontier competitive in the bustling mid-size truck market. Recently, other major players have updated their offerings: Chevrolet and GMC released the new Colorado and Canyon, Toyota introduced a revamped Tacoma with a special Trailhunter trim aimed at overland enthusiasts, and Ford unveiled a new Ranger, which now includes a more robust, wide-bodied Raptor variant. Since the last major update in 2022, the 2025 Frontier has been given a refreshed exterior, enhanced towing capability, and a wealth of new interior features, including an upgraded infotainment system.

The Frontier’s updated design includes a bolder front appearance, with black plastic bumper trim extending up to the grille, which now features a more aggressive look with larger elements and three slender vents above the Nissan logo, similar to the newly unveiled Nissan Rogue Rock Creek. The Pro-X and Pro-4X models now sport a new black trim across the tailgate, redesigned 17-inch wheels, and can be finished in an eye-catching new color for 2025 called Afterburn Orange.

Inside, the Frontier offers a host of enhancements, with a subtly redesigned dashboard centered around the new 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, available on the SV, Pro-X, Pro-4X, and SL trims.

This is a significant upgrade from the previous 9.0-inch screen. Wireless Android Auto has been added alongside wireless Apple CarPlay. Every model now includes a standard telescoping steering wheel.

The Pro-X, Pro-4X, and SL trims also feature a standard four-way power-adjustable passenger seat, while all models except the base S include two-way power lumbar support for the driver’s seat. Additional standard features across all Frontiers include a sliding rear window and an overhead sunglass holder. The SV model now comes with standard 17-inch wheels. The top-tier SL trim also benefits from a wireless phone charger and a surround-view camera.

For 2025, Nissan has restructured the Frontier lineup. The crew-cab, long-wheelbase setup is now offered on the SV, Pro-4X, and SL trims, providing a six-foot cargo bed. The Frontier’s maximum towing capacity has been enhanced to 7,150 pounds, an increase from the previous 6,640-pound limit. The off-road camera mode now functions at speeds up to 12 mph, and Nissan has made several driver-assistance features standard across all models, including lane-departure warning, blind-spot warning, rear parking sensors, and adaptive cruise control.

The 2025 Frontier continues to use the same 3.8-liter V-6 engine, delivering 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Nissan plans to release the new Frontier to dealerships later this summer, with pricing details to be announced closer to the launch date.
